Sola IBK

Our home ground is Solahallen which is located at a little town named Sola. The town has 18.000 inhabitants. Sola has its own mayor, but is really more like a suburb to Stavanger. Stavanger is a city with a population of 110.000, including the surrounding areas nearly 200.000. The city is located at the south-west coast of Norway.

Sola Innebandyklubb is one of the oldest floorball teams in Norway. The club was founded November the tenth 1988. We started as a group of pals with approximately 20 members. The local leagues started the following year. From the beginning Sola Innebandyklubb have worked hard to get the sport known and accepted in the community. As time past on we got more ambitious. In the season of 1992/93 we won the local county league and made it to the National Championship. Here we got an unexpected 2nd place. That made us aware of the possibility to reach further. We sat our goal to reach the new-started elite league, and made it. In the season of 1994/95 we played in the elite league. At that time Sola Innebandyklubb had two men's teams and one women's team with approximately 70 members altogether. Even though we kept our position in the elite league, we had to withdraw the team due to financial problems. Nearly all the other teams in the elite league were from the eastern part of the country, due to this we had to travel long distances. As a result of this some players chose to leave the club, but we managed a 4th place in 1st division 1995/96.

The season of 1996/97 Sola Innebandyklubb started the process of building a new strong team. After a bad start with many losses we finally got the players to work together as a team. With a great finish we got a 3rd place in 1st division West. We are optimistic about the future and our goal is to play in the elite league within few years, this time with better financial resources.

The season of 1997/98 organised leagues for young players will finally be a reality also in Rogaland county. This is something we have worked hard to achieve. Sola Innebandyklubb will participate with a boy/girl-team (age 12-16). This season Sola Innebandyklubb hope for an income at about 70.000 Norwegian kroner (approximately 10.000 USD) which will give us a small surplus. This season (97/98) Sola Innebandyklubb have got two boy's team (age 12-16) and two men's teams, one in 1st division West and the other in 3rd division Rogaland. Altogether we got 66 licensed players.
